Know Your Type/The Blood Type Diet

We’ve all dealt with it… Your home girl can eat whatever she wants and not gain a pound. Your other home girl just had a baby, but came home from the hospital looking the way she did before announcing her pregnancy. Another friend of yours doesn’t work out at all, but sure looks like she works out daily with no rest days in between. How can the same diet and exercise program that works for her not work for you? Why do you have to count calories and spent more time in the gym, yet see minimal results? It may be because of the idea that different blood types respond to food and exercise in different ways. The Live Right 4 Your Type plan by Dr. Peter J. D’Adamo claims to enhance your metabolic rate and support a healthy digestive system (burning calories and processing nutrients more efficiently). I’m sure there’s more to it, but here’s the basic summary of the Blood Type Diet used to achieve optimal weight (or in my case, to achieve clearer skin as I’m following this basic plan and seeing immediate results).

People of the O Blood type will benefit from intense physical activity. Beneficial foods for weight loss in this blood type include red meat, seafood, spinach and kale. Foods to avoid are wheat, dairy products, corn, and navy beans. Reading this blew my mind, as this information may explain how I’ve been able to maintain my current weight for several years, yet continue to struggle with acne.

People of the A blood type will benefit from calming exercises. Beneficial foods for weight loss in this blood type include seafood, collard greens, soy foods, olive oil, and pineapple. Foods to avoid are dairy products, wheat, kidney beans, lima beans, and eggplant.

People of the B Blood type will benefit from moderate physical activity. Beneficial foods for weight loss in this blood type include lamb, salmon, milk, tea and mustard greens. Foods to avoid are chicken, lobster, tomatoes, corn, and peanuts.

People of the AB Blood type will benefit from a combination of calming and moderate physical activities. Beneficial foods for weight loss in this blood type include turkey, tuna and salmon, tofu and collard greens. Foods to avoid are chicken, corn, kidney beans, and bananas.

With any diet or exercise program, it is highly suggested that you consult with your doctor before beginning any program and/or meal plan. You must also understand that results may vary and time is needed to see such results. Every body is different, and even with this information, you may find that some foods or exercises benefit you more than they hurt, so always do what is right for you. Use your own sound judgement, and if you try this plan, let me know what you think.
